Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 24, 2026 · Last updated: June 24, 2026
OmniTome is developed and published by OmniTome Media. This Privacy Policy explains what information the OmniTome application accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected. We are committed to handling your data with transparency and care.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
OmniTome does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information with OmniTome Media or any third party. There are no analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash-reporting services, or tracking technologies embedded in the application.
2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
OmniTome stores the following data exclusively on your device in private, app-sandboxed storage:
- Library metadata — book titles, authors, series, tags, descriptions, and cover images fetched from your personal Calibre Content Server or Google Drive.
- Reading progress — your current position in each book, stored as a Readium locator string.
- Highlights and annotations — text you highlight or annotate while reading, including color choices and written notes.
- Bookmarks — page positions you have bookmarked.
- Preferences — your configured Calibre server address, reader display settings, and app theme selection.
- Cached credentials — your Calibre username and password, stored in Android's encrypted DataStore on your device only.
None of this data leaves your device except in the course of normal communication with servers you configure (see Section 3).
3. Network Communication
OmniTome communicates exclusively with servers that you own or control:
- Calibre Content Server — a local or remote server you run yourself. OmniTome connects to the address you enter in Settings to fetch your book library, download EPUB and PDF files, and upload books. All traffic is between your device and your server.
- Google Drive (optional) — if you choose to connect your Google account, OmniTome accesses only EPUB and PDF files stored in your Drive. This connection is authorized by you via Google's standard OAuth flow and can be revoked at any time through your Google account settings. OmniTome does not access any other files, emails, or account data.
OmniTome makes no connections to OmniTome Media's servers or any other external service.
4. File Access
OmniTome requests permission to read files from your device storage solely for the purpose of importing EPUB or PDF books you select through the system file picker. The app does not browse, index, or access any files other than those you explicitly choose.
5. Children's Privacy
OmniTome is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because OmniTome collects no personal information from any user, no special handling for minors is required; however, parents should supervise use consistent with the content available in the book libraries they configure.
6. Security
Your Calibre credentials are stored using Android's encrypted DataStore, which is isolated within the app's private storage sandbox and inaccessible to other apps on your device. All data stored by OmniTome is subject to Android's standard application isolation guarantees.
7. Data Deletion
All data stored by OmniTome is local to your device. You can remove all app data at any time via Settings → Apps → OmniTome → Storage → Clear Data on your Android device, or by uninstalling the application. Neither action requires contact with OmniTome Media.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify users through the app or the Play Store listing. Continued use of OmniTome after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
